Happy Sunday! It’s hard to believe November has arrived and with it, the season of thanksgiving.
I want to invite you to be a part of the 30 day ‘Thankful Heart’ challenge. I am so excited about this opportunity to praise God.
During the month the blog will be filled with scriptures, gratitude activities and short devotions.
Each week you will be challenged to grow your gratitude and thankfulness through the scriptures and devotions. I want to encourage you to keep track of what God does in your heart over the next month. There is a lot to be said for cultivating a heart of gratitude.
I’m praying for this experience to bring a lot of joy to your journey.
WEEK 1
November 1: For 30 days, ask God to show you the many ways He has blessed you. Take a few moments each day to write down specific thoughts and praises. Thank Him daily for His blessings.
Scripture: “And whatver you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:17
Take Action: Ask the Lord to cultivate in you a more grateful heart. If you have realized that your thankful heart is less than it should be, pray about your shortcomings. Ask Him to forgive you and to change your heart and soul into a truly thankful individual.
November 2: For 30 days, ask God to show you the many ways He has blessed you. Take a few moments each day to write down specific thoughts and praises. Thank Him daily for His blessings.
Scripture: “I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.” Ephesians 1:17
Take Action: Read through the passages below, asking God to reveal your thankful heart. Reflect on what you’ve read and praise Him for your blessings. What do the scriptures reveal to you about gratitude?
Ephesians 1:15-16; Ephesians 5:20; Psalm 107:1;
November 3: For 30 days, ask God to show you the many ways He has blessed you. Take a few moments each day to write down specific thoughts and praises. Thank Him daily for His blessings.
Scripture: “Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Take Action: Paul is the author of 1 Thessalonians. He begins this letter with a note of affirmation, thanking God for the strong faith and good reputation of the Thessalonians. He reminds us that his teachings were not about ‘thanking God for everything,’ but in everything. How has God worked in you and what are you thankful for as a result?
November 4: For 30 days, ask God to show you the many ways He has blessed you. Take a few moments each day to write down specific thoughts and praises. Thank Him daily for His blessings.
Scripture: “Come let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song.” Psalm 95:1-2
Take Action: Read Psalm 95:1-11. What do these verses say about being thankful to God? As you read through the passages make a note that this Psalm is an invitation to worship God. What are your favorite ways to praise the Lord? Make a list of your 5 favorite praise & worship songs and listen to them during the month.
November 5: For 30 days, ask God to show you the many ways He has blessed you. Take a few moments each day to write down specific thoughts and praises. Thank Him daily for His blessings.
Scripture: “It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name. O Most High, to proclaim your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night.” Psalm 92:1-2
Take Action: This psalm is about being thankful and faithful every day. During this holiday season we focus on our blessings, but thanks should be on our lips every day. What does Psalm 92:1-15 teach us about attitude and gratitude? How can we honor God on a daily basis? Do you give God your first 5 minutes of your day?
November 6: For 30 days, ask God to show you the many ways He has blessed you. Take a few moments each day to write down specific thoughts and praises. Thank Him daily for His blessings.
Scripture: “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.” Psalm 118:1
Take Action: The theme of Psalm 118 is God’s unchanging love. Even in the midst of changing circumstances His love endures forever. Remember when you pray to thank your Heavenly Father for all that He is doing in you and through you. Make notes of how He has transformed you. Have you shared the good news with others?
November 7: For 30 days, ask God to show you the many ways He has blessed you. Take a few moments each day to write down specific thoughts and praises. Thank Him daily for His blessings.
Scripture: “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17
Take Action: Notice the word ‘every’ in James 1:17. Since everything is a gift from God, then we have a lot to be thankful for. That means the big and the little. Are there blessings that God has provided, big or small, that you haven’t thanked Him for? Take the time right now to bow your head and pray a prayer of thanksgiving to Him. Keep track of His blessings.
Prayer: Heavenly Father we are so blessed by the gifts you have given us. Create in us a grateful heart that looks forward to praising you in every moment. Show us who you are and open our eyes to reveal your goodness, mercy, joy, peace, and love that endures forever. Amen.
Have a blessed week and I’ll be praying for you.
