It’s Back to School Time
There is so much to be excited about when it comes to heading back to school. For some parts of the country the kids are already attending classes, sporting events and more. For others, the big day is set to arrive shortly. Either way, you know what this means as a parent.
- Summer is almost a wrap.
- Schedules are ramping up again.
- The season is about to shift.
It also means we need to support our students and teachers with prayer.
Even with all the happy moms and dads sending their kids back to class, there are those who may be holding on to fears of the unknown and what-ifs. Instead of dwelling on the negative, surrender your fears and focus on Jesus and the hope He brings.
God is Our Protector
God’s Word tells us that we are not to wallow in the things we can’t control. We are to keep moving onward and the only way to do that is through our faith in Jesus. He is our peacemaker, our protector, and our heart saver.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
As the school year gets underway let us pray for it to be filled with as much normalcy as possible. Seek the Lord and cling to Him every step of the way. During your quiet time use the list below to pray for students, teachers, administrators and other school staff who are working tirelessly behind the scenes to keep things headed in the right direction.
Six Things to Pray for Students and Teachers
- Favor – Proverbs 3:1-4
- Wisdom – 1 Kings 4:29
- Humility – 1 Peter 5:6-7
- Love to be shared – 1 John 4:9
- A thankful heart – Psalm 9:1
- Joy – Psalm 16:11
While you’re at it, pray for one another, be encouraging, and help prepare your kids hearts and minds for the journey ahead.
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you.” Proverbs 4:23
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please lift up our students and teachers as they begin a new school year. May they enjoy positive experiences, make new friends, and speak kindness to all they meet. Let every teacher speak words of wisdom and love to their students, and keep them safe. We serve a mighty God who loves us bigger than we could ever imagine and He will meet every need with His power and protection. Thank you Lord for your love and safe keeping. Amen.
