Celebrate Mom
It’s Mother’s day weekend and whatever you’re doing to celebrate, make the most of it. You have your own list of reasons when it comes to celebrating mom, but for many it’s about honoring those who love unconditionally, care for their children, spend time with them, chauffeur and run the errands, clean and takes care of the laundry, cook countless meals, volunteer, and a host of other things. All worthy and admirable qualities.
“You should be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.”
1 Peter 3:4
For others it’s a time of separation, heartbreak, regret and grief.
This special day can indeed be hard. You may be in a place where the relationship is fractured or you’re reestablishing a challenging relationship from days gone by, or even still, you’re a stepmom; that can present its own struggles. Whatever the role, we should aspire to be the best daughters of the king we can be and to be the best wives, mama’s, sisters and friends. We’re women after God’s own heart and He wants us to have that special relationship with Him. We are not perfect. We won’t ever be. But, our hearts long to be filled with His grace, love, peace, hope, joy and abundance.

Grace and more grace
Each of us has endured varying degrees of hard and we know we need a heart of grace to survive and thrive. It’s something we must pray for often. It’s something we need when we can’t win for losing. Or when our people get peoplely. Or when our kids throw us a curve ball that we have no idea how to straighten out. But through prayer and thanksgiving we can still forge a path that God directs and orchestrates. After all, He loves us dearly.
Honor and Encourage
For many of us it’s also about celebrating daughters and nieces who are mothers on a new journey of raising children. Just think of the wisdom and encouragement we can offer these precious women. It’s also about remembering the earthly mothers who are in their heavenly home. [That would be me.] Mother’s day can bring much joy. But inside of that joy is a nugget of sadness longing to celebrate with the mother who gave me life and the mother-in-law, who poured so much into me. For sure it’s a day that brings bitter sweet memories because so much has changed, but we can still honor them.
“As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you.”
Isaiah 66:13
Wherever you find yourself this weekend please know you are loved. Remember, whatever you’re doing to celebrate, make the most of this Mother’s Day. Maybe you gather your best girlfriends and celebrate one another. Or host or attend a family dinner where you show the special women in your life how much they are loved and the impact they’ve made.
Whatever it is–make the most of this Mother’s Day!
