Time of Uncertainty
There’s no doubt with the events that are unfolding that we are living in times of uncertainty. Every decision we make is unprecedented. Fear and doubt linger at the forefront as we experience the unknown. But we can choose to not get sucked into the chaos. Instead, we can choose to put our hope in the One we know we can depend on–God, our Redeemer and Protector. Seeking Him helps us to choose faith over fear.
His Word tells us in Isaiah 41:10, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Keep Your Eyes Focused on Him
As you pray about this turn of events, keep your eyes focused on Him. Don’t let fear overcome your faith. Don’t let fear rise up and consume you. And don’t let untruths invade your heart and turn your grateful heart to an ungrateful one. Instead, turn to your Bible, read Scripture, and pray without ceasing. His Word will bring comfort and hope.
Over and over again the Bible says, do not fear. We can say we’re not afraid, but we’re human. And, any number of things can cause us to be scared out of our wits. It only takes a moment to forget who we belong to and that He is in control over all. Bottomline, we must shelter ourselves in the truth of His Word and immerse ourselves in His presence.
Fear is one of the enemy’s most popular weapons that he uses against us. Worry, anxiety, fear…all of these can overwhelm us with a thick shadow of darkness, controlling our every move and decision.
Depend on God’s Perspective and Presence
But God’s Word gives us the perspective we need. God’s presence gives us the peace we need. It is in times like these that We must run to the Rock that is higher so He can shelter us in His arms and settle us in His peace.
It’s during these impossible times that God shines brighter than ever. It is through our relationship with Him that we feel hope and feel encouragement. Even in the midst of darkness, God is strength and light and His Word helps us to choose faith over fear.
Philippians 4:6-7 tells us not to be anxious, that in all things He hears every prayer and He will guard our hearts and our minds.
In the words of Corrie Ten Boom, “We must trust an unknown future to a Known God.”
If you are feeling afraid or helpless–you are not alone. We are human. Focusing on God allows us to claim a calmness that overrides any chaos.
Give your worries to God. Allow Him to be in control. He’s not surprised by anything we are going through. He wants us to be smart about our decisions and circumstances because plans can change in a heartbeat. Nothing about this life is perfect and there will be challenges, difficult times, and more, but throughout everything, we can lean on the perfect God.
