Cultivate a Thankful Heart
As we enter this season of thanksgiving we often find ourselves more focused on being thankful and grateful than at other times of the year. So this month I’ll be sharing devotionals from my book, A Thankful Heart:30 Days to the Grateful Life. The importance of cultivating a thankful heart allows us to show our gratitude daily.
It’s during this time of year that we tend to spend more time being thankful, but gratitude and thankfulness are two things that matter every day of the year.
Turning What We Have into Enough
I want us to focus on having a heart full of GRATITUDE because it turns what we have into ENOUGH. We are to be thankful for what we have, rather than what we don’t.
If we are committed to cultivating a thankful heart all 365 days of the year, just imagine our list of thanksgiving. After all, thanking Him and praising Him should be on our lips daily.
Embrace the Grateful Life
Embracing the grateful life allows us to be a much kinder people, forever changed and transformed. Share with others how they’ve impacted your life. Tell them how much you appreciate them and let them know they are valued. Kind and gracious words bring joy to those you cross paths with daily.
God’s word tells us in Psalm 100, “Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God……Enter His gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name.”
In All Things Praise Him
Developing an attitude of gratitude is what keeps us grounded and appreciative of what we have. When situations spiral out of control or don’t work out like we think they should, it is during these times that we should, ‘praise Him in the morning and praise Him in the evening.’ In all things praise Him.
So ask God to cultivate in you a more grateful heart. And then show Him what that looks like. For God has provided both big and small blessings in your life, and He longs for us to acknowledge the beauty of what He has provided.
