Think about your life and how special it is to have a really good friend. You may call her your forever friend, best good friend, or heart sister. You and she may be just like Forrest Gump and Jenny……you go together likes peas and carrots.
It would be so easy to be related. You each bring special qualities to the relationship. You’re good listeners, defenders, confidants, encouragers, realists, motivators, counselors and cheerleaders.
You are the voice of reason and speak words of wisdom to one another. Your light shines for truth, you pull no punches, you articulate your thoughts with clarity and conciseness, and your ‘no drama’ life makes for some very happy people.
What makes the relationship so special? Perhaps it’s your kind words and your ability to never judge decisions or choices made. Or it’s your capacity to take in all of who they are, know them from the inside out and still love them—faults and all.
“A friend will be a friend in times of all kinds.” Proverbs 17:17
It may be your ability to be calm and quiet any anxiousness or nervousness….even in the midst of a storm….regardless of who is experiencing the storm. And it’s your unconditional love for them that seals the deal.
It’s your gift of discernment to see through and beyond those who are not who they say they are. And it is the heart connection that allows you to know what the other is thinking, even when no words have been spoken.
“Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13
But most of all it is your desire to protect, defend, and stand firm in unwavering fashion and live by the motto: You are for me and I am for you.
You are thankful and grateful for their presence and you know it is not by accident that you are together, but instead by God’s divine appointment that you are blessed to be sisters of the heart!
Take time this week to show your best good friend that she matters. Thank her for her presence in your life, for the priceless gift that she is, and be assured that she will hold your hand and walk beside through thick and thin.
Let us pray………Lord, I come to you today to thank you for these special people in our lives. We are so thankful to have those we can lean on, talk with, laugh with, cry with, and share our hearts desires with. I thank you for the gift of friendship and the circle of love that you have provided. In your precious name, Amen!
Such a beautiful description of a good friend! I’m grateful for mine and I will tell them. Thx Mitzi.
Thank you Sue Moore Donaldson. I love that God gives us ‘Sisters of the Heart’ who can share with us, love us, support us, depend on us, laugh with us, cry with us, or whatever the range of emotions are. It’s so nice to know that we have each others’ backs, and that we love one another regardless of the good, the bad, or the ugly.
