Life is made up of lots of little things. A walk on the beach, holding hands with your soulmate, enjoying a delicious dinner out with friends, or taking in a sunset in complete silence all serve as gentle reminders of life’s blessings we take for granted.
Sometimes all that’s needed is a break from our routine daily life to help us fully realize how those small moments make a difference in who we are and the purpose set before us.
“Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you will look back and realize they were big things.” ~Kurt Vonnegut
Our lives as we know them have become so demanding and the pressure to do more and collect more has become so burdensome that we have lost sight of who or what is really important.
Down time serves as a rich blessing from the mainstream and it allows us to take in a fresh perspective complete with gratitude and appreciation.
Think about the decisions and choices you make that continue to add to your plate of responsibility. Do they take time away from your loved ones? Do they steal away the precious minutes you could be spending with family and friends? Do you hear yourself saying, “I can’t right now, but I’ll do it soon.”
The time is RIGHT NOW to realize that the little things really are the BIG things. We must be thankful for the little things we have each day and take full advantage of them. Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight yourself in the LORD and He will give you the desires of your heart.”
Take a moment and think about that…….we are to take pleasure in God’s word and rejoice at all of the blessings and gifts He has given us. Thanks should be on our lips every day for those blessings.
In her book, ‘The Best Yes,’ Lysa TerKeurst, makes a powerful statement that speaks volumes as to who is important. She says,
“I refuse to let the people I’ve been entrusted with get my ‘Less’ instead of my ‘Best.’
So take the time TODAY for those who matter most and remember it’s the little things that can occupy the BIGGEST part of their heart.
I’ll be praying for you.

Absolutely LOVE this!!! Wonderful thoughts and beautiful lessons.
This post was a perfect culmination of my last 8 days spent on the beach in Destin with our family . Rest, relaxation and time spent together we’re what all of us needed. Wonderful 8 days of family time.
I love this post Mitzi! Cherishing every single day this summer with my precious family and my mom who is ill. Treasuring every moment we spend together and the ability to laugh and love in spite of the pain. You are a blessing and encouragement to me. Thank you for having a heart to encourage others.
